About Center

Russia is no different from any other country of the world where alternative ways of dispute resolution are becoming ever more popular. Providing the entrepreneurs with opportunities of widely using such mechanisms is one of the Russian Chamber’s key responsibilities fixed in the Federal Law «On Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Russian Federation» and in the Russian CCI’s Charter.

In 2006, the Arbitration and Mediation Center was created in the structure of the Chamber, which is going to develop this sphere of activity on the basis of long-term experience of the Chamber with application of modern technologies.

The Center of Arbitration and Mediation is an independent structural unit of the CCI that provides advisory, methodical, organizational and technical maintenance of activity of:

• International Commercial Arbitration Court (ICAC)
• Maritime Arbitration Commission (MAC) and the Association of Average Adjusters
• Court of Arbitration for Resolution of Economic Disputes
• Court of Arbitration for Sport
• Panel of Mediators

The Center focuses its efforts on strategic development of these dispute settlement institutions’s activity and also carries out current management. These activities take care not to break the Rules that give arbitrators and other persons involved in dispute resolution (settlement) the procedural independence.
The Center is guided in its efforts by the Russian Federation’s Laws now in force, the Chamber’s Charter, decisions of the CCI Congress, the CCI Board, and the CCI Board’s Presidium, orders and directives of the CCI President, and the Center’s own Regulations.
