Cooperation

One of the most important parts of the Center’s activities is support and development of cooperation on the following directions:

• cooperation with the legislative, executive and judicial federal authorities pursuing the aim of the legislative evolution in a sphere of the alternative regulation of commercial disputes and the functioning of the mechanism of recognition and enforcement of the arbitration courts awards.
• bilateral and plurilateral cooperation with the international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations to provide propitious international legal base for the activities of the ICAC and MAC at the CCI Russia, abroad execution of their awards.
• bilateral and plurilateral cooperation in the field of international commercial and maritime arbitration, arbitration proceedings and mediation with the commerce chambers and the foreign arbitration centers, including CIS member governments.

A Cooperation Agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation was concluded on April 8, 2003. The parties agreed to cooperate in protecting the rights and legitimate interest of businessmen, developing and promoting civilized ways of commercial dispute resolution, and forming a body of arbitral jurors for Russian state arbitrazh courts. They also agreed to exchange arbitration practice sources and information on international agreements and foreign legislation in force.
Seminars and conferences on international arbitration are held for lawyers and businessmen all over Russia under this agreement. They are attended by heads and judges of the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation, federal arbitrazh courts of Russian Federation districts and state arbitrazh courts of Russian Federation constituent entities, heads of departments of the CCI of Russia and regional CCIs, and experts of arbitral bodies within the CCI system.

In 2005, members of the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation as part of the CCI working group took an active part in elaborating a draft federal law “On Mediated Conciliation Procedures (Mediation)”.
